Spidex Boost Sachets (Phytoseiulus persimilis) — Predatory Mite for Spider Mite Control
Spidex Boost sachets contain Phytoseiulus persimilis, a proven predatory mite for controlling spider mites. Boost sachets are designed for fast, targeted coverage in areas with active spider mite pressure. Unlike slow-release sachets, Spidex Boost is chemical-free and safe for use in any growing environment including greenhouses, nurseries, orchards, flower beds, interiorscapes, outdoor landscapes, indoor plants including houseplants and more.

Use For
Spidex Boost targets all life stages—eggs, nymphs, and adults—of spider mites, including:
Two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae)
Other Tetranychus spp. (except Tetranychus evansi)

Phytoseiulus persimilis is a specialist predator and does not feed on other mites, thrips, or pollen. It cannot survive on alternative food sources.

When to Use Spidex Boost Sachets
Use wherever spider mites are actively present and fast, targeted biological control is needed.

Recommended for:
Active spider mite colonies, hotspots, or localized outbreaks
Rapid suppression in high-pressure zones where immediate action is needed
Spider mites harboring deep in plant tissue, folds, or crevices—areas sprays often miss
Growers seeking a fast-acting, targeted solution for spider mites

Curative Note:
Pair sachets with Spidex Vital bottles for broader coverage. Boost sachets provide rapid dispersal for hotspot cleanup and work best alongside bottle formulations for sustained control.

How It Works
Mode of Action: Mites pierce and consume spider mites using their mouthparts
Behavior: Mites disperse immediately from sachets into the crop
Visual Effect: Pest populations decline as mites establish and feed
Release Duration: Immediate release; no rearing system inside sachet
Sachet Type: Boost sachet for fast action in hotspot zones

Feeding Rates:
Nymphs and adults feed exclusively on spider mite eggs, larvae, and nymphs
Each nymph/adult consumes ~5–20 spider mites (including eggs, larvae and adult mites) per day under optimal conditions
Feeding life stages last approximately 20 days

Lifecycle of Phytoseiulus persimilis
Egg Stage
Oval, pale orange to pink, laid near spider mite colonies.
Hatch in 2–3 days under optimal conditions
Larval Stage
Non-feeding
Duration ~1–2 days
Nymphal Stages
Eight-legged, actively feeding on spider mite eggs, larvae, and nymphs.
Duration ~3–5 days at optimal temperatures
Adult Stage
Pear-shaped, ~0.5 mm long
Actively hunts and consumes prey
Duration ~20 days
Capable of laying 5–10 eggs per day under optimal conditions

FAQs

Can I store this for later?
Long-term storage, i.e. more than 48 hours, is not recommended. Apply promptly after receipt. Our products are shipped fresh for immediate use to ensure maximum performance. If needed, keep in a cool, dark, dry place for up to 1–2 days; longer holding reduces effectiveness and quality.

Does Spidex Boost contain adult mites?
Yes—sachets contain all mobile life stages, including adults and juveniles.

Is Spidex Boost safe for indoor plants?
Yes—completely safe for people, pets, and plants, making it ideal for use in enclosed environments like homes, offices, herb gardens and interiorscapes.

How soon will I see results?
Feeding starts immediately. Control builds quickly as predators move through affected areas.

Can I use this on tomatoes?
Yes, Spidex Boost is recommended for tomato crops. Tomatoes have natural resistances to certain predators, making it difficult for some predatory mites to maneuver and hunt on the plant. There is no harm to using Spidex in any set-up & Spidex is able to navigate tomatoes. For thrips management in tomatoes, we recommend Thripex.

Does Spidex Boost feed on other pests?
No—Phytoseiulus persimilis is a specialist predator and feeds only on spider mites.

Do I need to open the Spidex "Boost" sachets?
Yes- Spidex Boost is our only sachet which requires modification before use.Spidex Boost sachets require an exit hole—cut or puncture near the cardboard hook before placing.

Each sachet contains 100 of the predatory mite, Phytoseiulus persimilis, for the biological control of two-spotted spider mite. In Cannabis, the results are excellent. The beauty of this sachet is that it provides an easy-to-use and focused approach for controlling a localized infestation.

Instant boost in controlling spider mites. The sachet are hung in the affected plant(s) to give the area a high dose of predatory mites that results in an instant boost in controlling the spider mites. The sachets are designed in such a way that the carrier material remains inside the sachets for a cleaner application outcome.

Spidex Boost offers a direct application solution for growers and is not a breeding sachet in which further generations emerge over time. Spidex Boost mites get on with their work as soon as the sachet is opened. Initially developed for use in Cannabis, the product has proved to be so effective that it is now applied in many other crops, such as tomato. In open crops or crops with small leaves where care needs to be taken to keep the carrier material off the plant, Spidex Boost is an ideal solution.

  • Use Spidex Boost at the first sign of pest presence.
  • Hang the sachet in the center of the pest hotspot.
  • Make a small incision in the sachet so that the predatory mites can emerge.
  • Use in combination with Spical Ultimite for an optimal effect in controlling spider mites.

Spidex Boost is delivered in a box of 250 sachets. Each sachet contains 100 predatory mites. For more information and method of application see our ‘how-to-use’ video:www.koppertus.com/spidex-boost/

Instructions for application:

IMPORTANT! Ensure that you create a sufficient exit opening for the mites prior to placing sachets in the crop (a small hole or scissor-snip can be made in the upper corner portion of the sachet).

Hang sachets in sheltered positions in the crop (minimize exposure to direct sunlight or high winds/fans). Introduce sachets as soon as possible after receipt.

Handle sachets by the cardboard strip at the top; predatory mites are easily damaged.
