Horiver Yellow Sticky Discs — 18 cm Diameter - Monitoring & Trapping for Soil-Emerging Pests
Horiver Yellow Sticky Discs are designed to monitor and trap soil-emerging insect pests such as root aphids and fungus gnats in a variety of growing environments, including greenhouses, indoor spaces, and hydroponic systems. Each disc is made of durable polystyrene and coated with high-tack dry glue for reliable adhesion. The 18 cm diameter format offers broad coverage around plant stems, making it ideal for precise monitoring at the substrate level.
A pack includes 50 discs. Discs are placed individually around plant stems for targeted interception of pests emerging from soil or media.

Use For
Horiver Discs target pests that emerge from soil or substrate, including:

Root aphids (Pemphigus spp., Aphis spp.)
Fungus gnats and sciarids (Bradysia spp.)

When to Use Horiver Discs
Use Horiver Discs year-round as part of your integrated pest management strategy. They are suitable for:

Continuous monitoring of soil pest populations
Early detection before pest pressure escalates
Targeted trapping at the base of plants in pots, beds, or hydroponic systems

How It Works
Mode of Action: Trapping via color attraction and adhesive capture
Behavior: Soil pests are drawn to the yellow color and become stuck on contact
Visual Effect: Pests immobilized on the disc surface provide a clear indicator of pest pressure

Monitoring Value:
Reveals pest presence and density while capturing adults emerging from soil
Supports timely biological control decisions
Reduces reliance on chemical interventions when paired with scouting

Action Rates & Placement Guidance

Pressure Level Rate per Plant
Preventative 1 disc per plant
Active Monitoring 1 disc per plant

Trap Placement & Monitoring Strategy
Placement Height: Lay discs flat on substrate surface, centered around plant stem

Application Steps:
Remove silicone cover from one side and place disc sticky-side down around the stem, just above the substrate
Remove silicone cover from the top side to expose adhesive
Trap Saturation: Replace discs weekly or when surfaces become saturated with insects or debris
Monitoring Frequency: Check discs at least once per week
Record pest counts to track trends and inform release timing of biological controls
Dynamic Adjustment: Increase disc density in hotspots or high-pressure zones
Perimeter Monitoring: Combine discs with sticky cards near doors and vents to intercept windborne pests and prevent secondary infestations.

Best Working Conditions
Temperature: Effective across all growing environments
Humidity: Dry glue remains tacky even in high humidity
Plant Compatibility: Suitable for indoor, greenhouse, and outdoor plants

Compatibility Guidance
Safe for use with all biological control agents
Compatible with chemical controls

FAQs
What does “pressure” mean?
Pressure refers to pest population levels:

Preventative: No pests detected; proactive monitoring
Low Pressure: Few pests detected; early-stage presence
Medium Pressure: Moderate pest counts; localized hotspots
High Pressure: Heavy pest presence; widespread risk

How many discs should I use?
Follow action rate guidelines: one disc per plant for preventative and active monitoring. Increase density in high-risk zones or where pest pressure is escalating.

Are these traps safe for beneficials?
Sticky surfaces may occasionally capture flying beneficial insects such as parasitic wasps. To minimize this, release beneficials away from disc locations. Despite this minor risk, discs remain essential for early detection and accurate population tracking.

Can these detect pests other than root aphids and fungus gnats?
Horiver Discs are optimized for soil-emerging pests. While they primarily target root aphids and fungus gnats, they may also intercept other crawling pests near the substrate.

What makes discs different from sticky cards?
Discs are designed for horizontal placement at soil level, directly around plant stems, making them ideal for pests emerging from substrate. Sticky cards, by contrast, monitor flying pests above the canopy.
