Happy New Year!
Jan 09, 2026
We caught some warm holiday vibes and variegation from @alltheplantys, exploring Alocasia Pink to Green Polly’s festive leaves up close, with the twinkling tree and glowing fireplace in the background. Festive!
“Sometimes we feel buried, but actually…we’re planted.” Encouraging words from @katieanneplants as we head into this new year full of plant care adventures. Her Anthurium Warocqueanum is practically burying her behind its dark, lofty leaves lined in light green—a testament to good airflow and air circulation.
Another impressively large-leaved plant is her Variegated Alocasia Amazonica. “How big is she? …here you go.” She’s big. It’s nice to know predatory mites from Natural Enemies helped her get there.
Some unique dangling flower clusters caught our eye in another post, standing out among the large-leaved aroids. They’re hoya blooms, like little upside-down umbrellas of tiny star-shaped florets that are, apparently, highly fragrant. Succulent leaves are waxy and speckled—lower key but lovely nonetheless.
@plants.byd offers some helpful tips for those struggling with alocasias. She shares what works for her, including beneficial bugs to control spider mites, and invites followers to leave their own suggestions in the comments, “so we can all learn from each other.” What an inspiring way to start the year!
