Solving Spider Mites in Lawn & Landscaping

Sep 01, 2025

Spider mites can quietly damage ornamentals and turf—especially when plants are stressed. Catching them early helps preserve plant health and appearance.

In lawns, hedges, and landscape beds, spider mites often settle into sun-exposed areas—especially on ornamentals like boxwood, roses, and viburnum. Spider mites hide on the undersides of leaves and in stem joints, making them hard to reach with sprays and easy to overlook during routine maintenance.

Keep irrigation consistent and mulch around ornamentals to maintain soil moisture and reduce plant stress. Scout hedges and dense shrubs by inspecting inner leaf zones and stem joints—mites often hide in these protected areas. Beneficials like Spidex and Spical are a great place to start. These predatory mites feed on all life stages and can reach into the crevices where spider mites live.

Once pressure is reduced—or if you're currently managing the problem with a spray—preventative sachets can be placed in clean zones to help clean up and protect against future pressure. In landscape beds, tuck sachets under foliage or near irrigation emitters where they’ll stay shaded and protected.

Isarid is a mycoinsecticide that can help bridge the gap between spraying and introducing beneficials. It’s compatible with biocontrols and supports a smoother transition.
